The "The Nun" series, part of the "Conjuring" universe, follows the demonic entity Valak, who takes the form of a sinister nun. In "The Nun," set in 1952 Romania, a young nun named Sister Irene and a priest, Father Burke, are sent by the Vatican to investigate a nun's mysterious suicide at an abbey. They uncover the abbey's dark secret and face the malevolent force of Valak. Themes of faith, fear, and the battle between good and evil are central as the protagonists confront supernatural horrors and fight to banish the demon back to hell.
